In the portrayal of male and female characters, does it matter if the writer is a man or a woman? Give specific examples from the books we have read this semester. [The Bean Trees and Ethan Frome are the only ones written by women: Barbara Kingsolver and Edith Wharton]
I do believe that it does matter if the writer is a man or a woman. For example, with the book, The Bean Trees, Barbara Kingsolver had all of her main characters as female. She gave them strong personalities and showed the strengths and weaknesses of a woman. She also showed how females can be really loving and caring because the main character ends up taking care of a child that isn't hers.

Hey Teacher, Leave Those Kids Alone!
What kind of education do you think is best? Can you get the best type of education in a public school?
I think the best education that a person can get is an education that they have earned or have paid for because it shows an effort that the person actually does want an education. I think you can get a good type of education at a public school if you are dedicated to your education. It really just varies among the people and what they think about education. I think some people don't take full advantage of a free education at a public school.

Civil Disobedience
What is civil disobedience? Have you ever done it? Can it change society?
Civil disobedience is the active refusal to obey certain laws, demands and commands of a government or of an occupying power without resorting to physical violence. (according to wikipedia) I have done it before at my old high school with a school policy of wearing student id's around the neck every day at school. It can change society gradually and surely, it can change society permanently.

Fahrenheit 451 Podcast.
Think about the work your group did on the podcast.
1. What did you learn about using Garageband?
I was able to learn how to experiment more with the instruments and to create my own music and beats.

I learned how a different sort of government can really change a country's lifestyle and the way that the people act and live.

3. What did you learn about working with others?
I learned that with working with others, I shouldn't procrastinate and that as a group, we should start working on the project earlier so we'll have more time to edit it and such.

Think about the groups that presented on Thursday and Friday.
1. What's one thing that you really admired in a podcast?
One thing was the humor that they put into the interview and the story.

2. How could the podcasts be improved the next time we do this assignment?
Next time, we should be able to make longer podcasts with a variety of topics that we can talk about.

Reflection.
What do you think of the class so far? What have you learned this semester? What would you like to learn more about? How can we use technology more in the classroom? How do you feel you're doing in the class? What can I do to help you more? What can you do to improve?
So far with this class, I've enjoyed the books that we have read. They're quite mind opening to read. I think that with technology, we should learn how to use all of the programs that are on the laptops, such as experimenting more with garageband and maybe photoshop as well. I think I'm just doing alright in this class but I know I can do a whole lot better. I really need to get on top of doing and finishing my work, especially on time.
Interview With Bradbury
Read the first section of the interview with Ray Bradbury. Based on his answers to the questions, what kind of a person do you think Bradbury was?
I think that Ray Bradbury seemed to be the type that doesn't really talk much. He tends to keep more to himself and would express his feelings and his thoughts through writing, rather through talking. He also seem to be a very opinionated person and isn't scared to take a stand for what he believes in.
