Utopia or Dystopia?

Do you believe the future will be better or worse than the present? How do movies and books usually portray the future? What will the future be like?

I believe that at the rate and the way that people are living now, the future will be worse then the present. I think that the planet will become very over-populated and way too polluted. Movies and books tend to portray the future with amazing technology such as flying cars and what it seems like an easy lifestyle for everyone. I'm not quite sure on what I think the future will be like but I do think that it's going to be a lot more complicated.

I believe the future will be good and/or bad depending on our influences. If future role models portray a sense of corruption and irrational behavior, then most adolescents will be prone to failure. Yet, with an inverted scenario, the adolescents will become more informed and much more knowledgeable. Then again, I believe that no matter what the outcome of the future would be, there will always be a group of people who will be much more intelligent than the rest. If anything, the future will definitely be a change all will have to adapt to. Good news is that although a lot of changes take places very suddenly and quickly, we barely notice it. Therefore, I conclude that the question, "What will it be like in the future?" is rather a somewhat vague, and to some, idiotic question. Although the question is easily interpreted, it's inaccurate due to its missing time span. A better formed/formulated question would arise as, "What would it be like X years from now?" thus giving people a more realistic confined of what the question is looking for.
